Sea-Doo 350 ECU Unlock: Germany, Florida or an Already Unlocked Replacement ECU
Before the M-JET FLASHER can write to a 350 for the first time, the ECU has to be unlocked once. It's not a step you repeat with every flash, and it isn't needed for every M-JET product either. Because there's a lot of half-knowledge going around, we'll walk through the three routes one by one and clear up the most common misunderstandings.
Why the unlock is needed
All four 350 models, the RXP-X 350, RXT-X 350, GTX Limited 350 and RXP-X Senna 350, use the Bosch MG1CA920 engine control unit. Before the first flash, that ECU gets unlocked once. The unlock sets things up so the M-JET FLASHER can flash from the app afterward, as often as you like. The same goes for the 2024 to 2026 325s. If you already know the unlock from there, the background is in ECU unlock for the Sea-Doo 325.
What doesn't need an unlock
- The Speed Limit Remover: it lifts the factory GPS and Vmax limit with no tune and no change in power. It only gets plugged into the diagnostic connector briefly and switched on in the M-JET SLI app.
- M-JET DIAGNOSTIC: reading and clearing fault codes, live data, component tests and service reset all work without an unlock.
So the unlock only matters for tuning with the flasher.
The three routes at a glance
| Route | What happens | Ship anything | Good fit if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Germany location | pull your ECU, have it unlocked, reinstall it | yes | you ride in Europe and want to keep your original ECU |
| Florida location | same as above, through the US location | yes | you ride in North America and want to keep your original ECU |
| Replacement ECU from M-JET | a new BRP MG1 arrives already unlocked, the flasher transfers the data from the old unit | no | you don't want to ship anything |
Route 1: ship it to Germany
- Remove the ECU.
- Ship it to the M-JET location in Germany.
- It gets unlocked there and shipped back.
- Reinstall it.
- Plug in the flasher and flash from the app as usual.
Your ski keeps its original ECU, it's just unlocked now. Support comes straight from Germany, where the flasher is developed and built.
Route 2: ship it to Florida
The process is the same as with the German location: remove, ship, get it back unlocked, reinstall, flash. The difference is the destination. For riders in the US and Canada, Florida is the natural choice, and the ECU stays on this side of the Atlantic.
Route 3: an already unlocked replacement ECU
The third route works without shipping your ECU anywhere. You buy a new replacement engine control unit (BRP MG1) from M-JET that arrives at your door already unlocked. It doesn't need another unlock.
- You pick the replacement ECU at M-JET together with the flasher.
- It arrives already unlocked, so you don't ship anything.
- The flasher transfers all relevant data from the old ECU to the new one.
- After that you flash from the app, same as with the other routes.
You never have to let go of your own ECU, it stays with you. On a limited-run Senna, plenty of owners like knowing the original part is sitting on the shelf at home.
Which route is right for you
The choice depends less on the technology than on your situation. If you ride in Europe and don't mind pulling the ECU and shipping it, the German location is the direct route. In North America the same goes for Florida. If you'd rather not ship your original ECU at all, go with the replacement unit. All three routes end up in the same place: an unlocked ECU the flasher can write to.
A tip from the shop: read the fault memory before the unlock and jot down the key live values. That way you can tell right after the first flash whether everything runs the way it did before.
After the unlock
From here on, everything runs through the app on iOS or Android. Dongle on the diagnostic port, connect over Bluetooth, pick a setup, flash, unplug after a few minutes. The app shows which setups are available for your model. You can restore the stock file at any time and reflash as often as you like without unlocking again.
One thing to know with a new model year: the flasher reads your ECU's software version automatically. If it isn't on the M-JET server yet, the tune is built for your ski. That takes max. 3 business days, then it's ready to download in the app.
More than one ski
For additional skis there's the 2024+ 325/350 hp add-on license, no second dongle needed. The unlock is done per ski. So if you have an RXT-X 350 and a GTX Limited 325 in the garage, each ECU gets unlocked once. Which other Sea-Doo models the flasher covers is listed in the Sea-Doo tuning by model overview.
Three misunderstandings
You have to unlock again before every flash
No. Once it's unlocked, you flash as often as you want.
The replacement ECU still needs an unlock
No. It arrives already unlocked. You don't ship anything.
The Speed Limit Remover needs an unlock too
No. It works without one. More answers are in the Sea-Doo 350 tuning FAQ.
Only want to lift the GPS speed limit, with no tune and no ECU unlock? The Speed Limit Remover is compatible with every 325 and 350, plugs in briefly and doesn't have to stay on the ski.
