Sea-Doo 130 Tune, No Unlock: GTI 130 and GTX 130 to 170 HP
Looking for a Sea-Doo GTI 130 to 170 tune? The GTI 130 and GTX 130 can be tuned to 170 hp with the M-JET FLASHER, with no ECU unlock and no mail-in. Buy it, plug it in, flash it, unplug it, done.
You do not pull your ECU and you do not ship anything. No laptop, no shop appointment, just an ECU reflash from your phone. Below you will find which models qualify, what actually happens when a 130 becomes a 170, how the process works and what to check before your first flash.
130 tune, no unlock: which models qualify
In the flasher configurator, these models belong to the Sea-Doo Spark & 130 PS group. All of them have one thing in common: the ECU can be flashed directly, no unlock required.
| Model | Model years | Unlock needed |
|---|---|---|
| GTI 130 | 2020 to 2027 | No |
| GTI SE 130 | 2020 to 2027 | No |
| GTX PRO 130 | 2021 to 2024 | No |
| GTX 130 | 2025 and 2026 | No |
| FishPro Scout 130 | 2022 to 2026 | No |
The 170 hp figure applies to the GTI 130, GTI SE 130, GTX 130 and GTX PRO 130. The FishPro Scout 130 sits in the same group and also needs no unlock. The setups available for it are listed on the FishPro Scout 130 model page.
Sea-Doo 130 to 170: what is behind it
The GTI 130 and the 170 hp GTI and GTX models share the same platform: the Rotax 1630 ACE, a naturally aspirated three-cylinder. What separates a 130 from a 170 is defined by the software in the ECU. That is exactly where the FLASHER comes in. It writes the setup to your 130 that lets it run at the 170 power level.
You do not touch the hull, the pump or the engine. What you feel on the water: stronger pull out of the hole, more reserve with two or three people aboard, more top end, and less of that feeling that the ski is working flat out all the time. We give no top speed or acceleration figures, because we do not publish numbers we cannot back up. How much of it you notice also depends on load, water conditions and how well the craft has been maintained.
Four steps: buy, plug in, flash, unplug
- Buy: In the configurator, pick the Sea-Doo Spark & 130 PS group and choose Lite or Pro.
- Plug in: Plug the dongle into the diagnostic port and connect the iOS or Android app via Bluetooth.
- Flash: Choose the setup and start the flash. It takes a few minutes.
- Unplug: Pull the dongle, done. Nothing stays installed on the ski.
You need no laptop, no cable kit and no appointment. The full process with a checklist is in Sea-Doo 130 to 170 hp in a few minutes.
No unlock, no mail-in: why that is a big deal
Many newer Sea-Doo models from 2024 on use the Bosch MG1CA920 ECU. It needs a one-time unlock before the first flash. That means shipping the ECU to Germany or Florida, or buying a replacement ECU that arrives already unlocked. It works reliably, but it takes planning, and the ski sits on the trailer in the meantime. The background is covered in Locked MG1 ECU on Sea-Doo: problems and solutions.
The 130 models in the table skip that step entirely. The 130 to 170 conversion is not a mail-in job either: the ECU stays in the boat, you ship nothing and pull nothing. In spring, when everybody wants to get on the water at the same time, that is a real advantage. You buy the flasher, plug it in and ride out with 170 hp.
Pro or Lite
Both versions use the same dongle and the same maps. You get the 170 hp with either one.
- Lite: tuning via the app. Choose a setup, flash it, restore stock whenever you want.
- Pro: everything in Lite plus diagnostics. Live data and data logger, read and clear the fault memory, service reset.
If you do your own maintenance, Pro is the more practical choice. You check the fault memory before and after the flash, log a test run and reset the service reminder yourself after an oil change. For another vehicle you do not need a second dongle, just an additional license.
Back to stock
The flash is not permanent. You can restore the stock software from the app at any time, and you can reflash as often as you like. Want to try a different setup, or want the ski in factory condition before you sell it? Plug the dongle back in and you are done in a few minutes. Then unplug it again, just like the first time.
Check before you flash
Two things are worth checking before every flash:
- Battery voltage: A weak battery is a typical reason for an interrupted flash. Charge it fully first or hook up a battery maintainer.
- Fault memory: If there are stored codes, sort them out before tuning. More power does not fix an existing problem, it tends to make it more obvious.
M-JET DIAGNOSTIC or the FLASHER Pro help with both. The warning signs of an ECU issue are listed in 7 signs of an ECU problem on your Sea-Doo.

FAQ
Does my GTI 130 or GTX 130 need an ECU unlock?
No. The GTI 130, GTI SE 130, GTX PRO 130, GTX 130 and FishPro Scout 130 can be flashed directly, including the newer model years.
How long does the flash take?
The flash itself takes a few minutes. Allow a little extra time for the battery check and a look at the fault memory.
Does anything stay installed on the ski?
No. The dongle is only plugged into the diagnostic port for flashing. Then you unplug it, and the software lives in the ECU.
Can I go back to stock?
Yes, any time from the app. You can also reflash as often as you like.
Lite or Pro for 170 hp?
Both take your 130 to 170 hp. Pro adds diagnostics with live data, data logger, fault memory and service reset.
Can I use the flasher on a second Sea-Doo?
Yes, with an additional license. You do not need a second dongle for that.
Back to stock any time. Restore the stock software from the app as often as you like. The Pro version also adds diagnostics: live data, data logger, fault memory and service reset.
