The 2024 FX HO, GP HO and VX Cruiser HO from Yamaha use a 1898 cc engine, and the obvious question is whether this is the next SVHO. It isn't. These engines are the HO type without a supercharger, and the SVHO stays what it was, the supercharged 1.8 litre. There is no supercharged 1.9, so any listing that says otherwise has the name wrong.
What is the same as on the 1.8
If you have worked on a 1.8 HO, most of the code list will look familiar. The control unit watches about 50 faults, with the usual groups for engine position, temperatures, intake air, the electronic throttle, switches and battery voltage. The knock sensor, code 17, is part of the 1.8 and 1.9 engines, and the live data includes ignition timing, so a knock entry can be viewed together with what the ignition was doing at the time. Throttle complaints are handled as on the 1.8: look at the paired TPS and APS values in the live data and check that each pair moves together as you work the lever.

Code 41 and why numbers deserve suspicion
The new line in the list is code 41, a thermo sensor message that appears only on the 1.9 litre engines. The same number means something else on older skis. In the earlier FX1000, FX1100 and GP1300R generation, 41 stands for air pressure. That is a good example of why a code number copied from a forum or a manual never settles anything on its own. The numbering differs between control unit generations and between sources, and the description in the app is the reference.
I wouldn't guess which physical sensor sits behind 41 beyond what the app says. What can be said is how a temperature complaint is usually worked on the 1.8: owners report that the water path is the more common cause, and the sensors come after. The 1.8 has three temperature devices, the exhaust manifold thermo sensor (code 65), a thermo switch and the engine temperature sensor (code 15). If an alarm sounds and no sensor reports anything, the thermo switch is the suspect. Treat that as a starting point for the 1.9 and not as a ruling. Reading a knock message
A knock entry at full load deserves a calm reading. Look at what the ignition timing did and whether intake air temperature was unusually high. The scan tells you the control unit pulled back or flagged something. It doesn't tell you why a particular engine knocked, and that is where mechanics have to take over.
What the app can't judge
- Cavitation and impeller condition.
- Foreign objects in the intake grate.
- Clogged cooling passages.
- Compression.
Those problems exist on the 1.9 as well. They produce symptoms that the control unit may or may not translate into a code.
A useful baseline
When a code does appear, the sequence is the same as on any other model: note the entry and its description, clear it, ride again and see whether it comes back. An entry that returns under the same conditions is real, and an entry that never returns was probably a one-off.
These are new skis, so a recording from the first season is more valuable than it looks. Log a normal ride once: engine temperature, manifold values, intake pressure, battery voltage, throttle angle. When something feels off two years from now, you will have your own ski to compare against and not another owner's forum post. Record the vehicle data screen too, with model, engine serial number and software version.
