Used Yamaha GP1800R: Race Use or Leisure? Check the Hours

The GP1800R is Yamaha's sport craft and is often ridden hard. Whether your candidate has seen race use or leisure, M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows through the hours per RPM range.

What you check

• Total hours and distribution across the RPM ranges
• Share in the range above 8000 rpm
• Fault memory for knock, temperature and throttle valve messages
• SCU and RPS codes on models with RiDE

Assessment

A high share in the top range fits sporty riding and strains engine, drive and possibly supercharger. That does not automatically lower the value but is a reason to check pump, bearings and drive thoroughly. Compare the result with the display hour meter and with the story the seller tells you. If it does not fit together, ask.
