Checking a Used Yamaha WaveRunner: Diagnostics Before You Buy
When buying a used WaveRunner you pay for what you cannot see. With M-JET DIAGNOSTIC you check the control unit right at the viewing and get facts instead of promises.
What belongs in the check
- Read the fault memory: are there active or stored faults?
- View engine hours and their distribution across the RPM ranges
- Judge live data at standstill: temperatures, battery voltage, air pressure
- Compare model, engine serial number and software version with the papers
- Briefly activate ignition coils, injectors and fuel pump
How to read the results
Many hours in the upper RPM range point to sporty use, many in the lower range to calmer riding. A freshly cleared memory is no proof of a healthy craft, so also judge live data and the test ride. If serial number and part number do not match the documents, ask. When in doubt, also have the craft checked by a specialist workshop, especially with high running time or supercharging.
