Yamaha FX1100 Code 99: Irregular Intake Air
Code 99 stands for irregular intake air on the FX1100's control unit. That sounds like a sensor but is often a hose or gasket. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows you the intake pressure and helps classify it.
How to proceed
- Read the fault memory, note code 99 and other entries
- Compare intake pressure and atmospheric pressure at standstill
- Watch intake pressure at idle; it should stay steady
- After fixing, clear the memory and read again
Typical causes
If an intake hose slips, a clamp is loose or a gasket is porous, the engine draws false air and the control unit sees mismatching values. A dirty air filter area or moisture in the intake also occur. First check what is visible: hoses, clamps, gaskets. After that, teach the idle again if needed.
