Yamaha GP1800R: Throttle Response Jerky, Check the Throttle Valve
When accelerating, the GP1800R jerks or throttle response is delayed. Electronic throttle valve, TPS and APS are then under suspicion. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows you the live values.
What you compare
- APS1 and APS2: do both run smoothly with the throttle lever?
- TPS1 and TPS2: does the valve follow the setpoint?
- Fault memory: ETV 112 to 145, TPS 124 to 128, APS 131 to 135
- After cleaning or replacement: teach the throttle valve
Jumps are suspicious
A signal that jumps when giving gas smoothly speaks for a contact fault at the sensor or connector. If all signals run cleanly and the jerking remains, you look at ignition, injectors and fuel supply, tested by individually activating the four cylinders. Because the throttle valve is safety-relevant, leave unclear findings to a specialist workshop.
