Yamaha WaveRunner Throttle Valve Fault (ETV, TPS, APS)
Modern Yamaha models have no mechanical link between the throttle lever and the throttle valve. The control unit evaluates the accelerator (APS) and throttle valve position (TPS) and drives the valve with a motor (ETV). M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows you whether a value falls out of line.
Faults you may encounter
- ETV: throttle valve does not operate as commanded
- TPS: throttle position sensor out of specification
- APS: accelerator position sensor out of specification
- APS closed-position switch with an irregular signal
How to proceed
Read the codes and look at the live values of TPS and APS. Both sensors deliver two signals that must match each other, so a one-sided deviation is easy to spot. Next check connectors, wires and the voltage supply. After replacing or cleaning the valve, teach it. The throttle valve is safety-relevant; have unclear findings checked by a specialist workshop.
