Yamaha WaveRunner Power Loss: Finding the Cause
The WaveRunner no longer revs properly, hangs on the throttle or does not reach its usual top speed? With M-JET DIAGNOSTIC you record the values while riding and see where it falters.
What you look at
- Throttle valve angle compared to accelerator position
- Intake pressure and intake air temperature
- Ignition timing and injection duration
- Engine and exhaust manifold water temperature
- Battery voltage under load
Mechanics or electronics?
If power drops because the control unit reduces it, the fault memory usually holds a hint, for example on temperature, knock or throttle valve. If there is no entry, the cause often lies in the mechanics: a fouled pump, a damaged impeller, a dirty intake area or fuel quality. The test ride shows you the difference. Power loss without a fault code is a reason to check pump and intake.
