Yamaha VX1100 Won't Start: Relays, Pump, Ignition
The VX1100 cranks but nothing happens, or the starter stays silent. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows you the status of relays and switches and lets pump, coils and injectors respond one by one.
Check order
- Battery voltage during the start attempt
- Main relay, ETV relay and fuel pump relay in the switch status
- Kill switch and start switch in the switch status
- Activate pump, four ignition coils and four injectors
Systematic to the cause
If the relay signal is missing, the fault is before the component. If the pump does not run but the relay switches, it is about wire or pump. If the injectors respond but nothing ignites, ignition and speed signal come into question. Because the VX1100 is a four-cylinder, you have many comparisons: a cylinder that falls out of the pattern is quickly spotted. On this generation, corrosion at the voltage regulator has been observed: the charging voltage with the engine running in the live data gives it away. The pump test only shows that the pump runs, not whether it delivers enough.
