Yamaha WaveRunner Won't Start: Diagnostics
The starter turns but the engine does not catch, or nothing happens at all: the classic before the season start. With M-JET DIAGNOSTIC you check in a few minutes whether the control unit knows a fault and which values are present during the start attempt.
Check in this order
- Look at battery voltage in the live data; it must not drop heavily on starting
- Read the fault memory, for example regarding the camshaft or pulser coil sensor
- Check switches and relays in the live data, for example kill switch and fuel pump relay
- Activate ignition coils, injectors and fuel pump one by one
What the values tell you
If voltage drops during the start attempt, it is mostly the battery or a poor connection. If the control unit sees no speed signal, the pulser coil or camshaft sensor is suspect. If you do not hear the pump or see no injector respond, the fault is in the fuel or injection circuit. Only work on the fuel system with good ventilation and without ignition sources.
