Checking Yamaha WaveRunner Battery Voltage and Charging System
Many problems on a WaveRunner originate in the voltage. A weak battery triggers fault messages that have nothing to do with the actual component. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows you battery voltage in real time.
How to check the voltage
- At standstill with ignition on
- During starting, watch how far it drops
- With the engine running, at idle and under load
- Check the fault memory for messages about battery voltage
What the values mean
A healthy battery at rest is in the range of about 12.5 volts and more. With the engine running, charging lifts the voltage. If it stays below, that can point to a problem with the generator or regulator. If it collapses to a very low level when starting, the battery or a contact at the terminal is weak. Voltage problems also cause false alarms from other sensors, so it always pays to look here first.
