Yamaha 1.9 Litre: Power Missing or Throttle Response Sluggish
The new 1.9-litre generation is supposed to pull hard. If it feels weaker than expected or hangs on the throttle, it is worth looking at the numbers M-JET DIAGNOSTIC reads from the control unit.
What you record
- Intake pressure (code 29) and engine speed at full load
- Throttle valve angle against throttle lever position (TPS and APS)
- Intake air temperature (23), engine temperature (15) and thermo sensor (41)
- Ignition timing and knock sensor messages (17)
Classification
If the control unit pulls power back, there is usually a reason in the fault memory or the temperatures. If the throttle valve does not follow the lever, you look at APS and TPS. Also check whether a mode with limited power is active, such as no-wake or a learner mode. If all values are unremarkable and the craft stays slow anyway, the cause is often in pump, impeller or inlet, which a diagnostic tool only shows indirectly through engine speed.
