Buying a Used Yamaha EX: Diagnostic Check Before You Buy
The EX is a popular entry and often available used, not rarely from rental. Before buying, M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows the control unit's memory.
What you check
- Fault memory with stored entries on temperature and throttle valve
- Hours in total and per RPM range
- Live values at idle, especially temperatures and voltage
- Briefly activate coils, injectors and pump
Why temperature entries matter
Among the most frequent problems of the EX in forums are overheat warnings. If you find such entries in the memory, ask what happened and what was repaired. A craft with many hours in the low range and a clean memory is a good sign but does not replace a test ride. Also check impeller and inlet for damage.
