Yamaha FX140 Fault Codes: List and Meaning
The control unit of the early FX140 knows only a few fault codes, but they are unambiguous. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC reads them and shows you meaning and check steps right in the app.
The codes of this generation
- Code 19: pulser coil
- Code 21: engine temperature sensor
- Code 24: throttle position sensor (TPS)
- Code 25: battery voltage
- Code 35: intake air temperature sensor
- Code 36: camshaft sensor
- Code 41: air pressure sensor
- Code 71: slant switch
Good to know
The numbers apply to the control unit of this early generation; newer Yamahas use different ones. If you are unsure, rely on the description in the app. The list is short because the FX140 gets by without an electronic throttle valve. From model year 2003, some variants add messages such as bypass valve motor, steering switch, intake system and no-wake switch.
Note on numbering: the codes come from the control units' diagnostic database, as the diagnostic tool reads them. Forums and manuals partly circulate different assignments, especially for older models and for codes shown on the display. When in doubt, the description in the app counts.
