Yamaha GP1300R Fault Codes: List and Meaning

The GP1300R has its own control unit with messages you do not find on other Yamahas, such as for stepper motor and YPVS. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC reads and explains them.

The GP1300R codes

• 19 pulser coil, 21 engine temperature, 24 throttle position sensor, 25 battery voltage
• 34 air pressure sensor, 35 intake air temperature, 71 slant switch
• 84 stepper motor, 102 and 103 stepper motor operation 1 and 2
• 83 exhaust manifold temperature sensor, 101 exhaust manifold water temperature
• 100 YPVS, 85 steering switch

How to deal with them

The numbers help with lookup; the app supplies symptom and check steps for every entry. Several stepper motor codes at once point more to wiring or connector than to several defective parts. In such a case first check the connector and the power supply. After the repair you clear the memory and check on a test ride that it stays empty.

Note on numbering: the codes come from the control units' diagnostic database, as the diagnostic tool reads them. Forums and manuals partly circulate different assignments, especially for older models and for codes shown on the display. When in doubt, the description in the app counts.
