Yamaha GP1300R Won't Start: Check Ignition, Injectors, Pump

The GP1300R is a three-cylinder with three ignition coils and three injectors. That keeps troubleshooting manageable. With M-JET DIAGNOSTIC you test each one individually.

Check chain

  • Battery voltage when starting
  • Fault memory: pulser coil (19) and air/temperature sensors
  • Activate ignition coils 1 to 3 in turn
  • Activate injectors 1 to 3 and fuel pump

What the responses show

If all three coils and injectors respond, the fault is more likely in the pulser coil signal or fuel supply. If one component does not respond, you have found the candidate and first check connector and wire. On a vehicle from 2003 to 2008 this approach mainly saves time, because contacts and batteries are more often to blame at this age than the control unit. Also check the live value of the throttle position sensor: it must show a closed throttle when starting, and a loose connector is a frequently named cause here.
