Yamaha WaveRunner Pulser Coil and Camshaft Sensor Fault

Without a speed and position signal the control unit does not know when to ignite and inject. If it reports a fault on the pulser coil or the camshaft sensor, M-JET DIAGNOSTIC helps you find the cause.

Typical signs

  • Engine starts badly or not at all
  • Engine speed jumps or suddenly collapses
  • Fault code for pulser coil or camshaft sensor
  • Implausible speed reading in the live data

What you check

Start with connector and wire, because moisture and corrosion are frequent causes. After that, specialists measure the sensor's resistance and output voltage. During the start attempt, watch in the live data whether a speed is detected. If none is detected although the starter turns, the fault lies in the signal path. Leave work on the engine and ignition to a specialist workshop if you are not familiar with it.
