Yamaha VX: Overheat Alarm on Longer Rides (Code 15 and 65)
A forum question: short rides work, on longer tours the alarm comes. That can be cooling or a sensor. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows you the difference.
What you compare
- Engine temperature (code 15) over time
- Exhaust manifold water temperature (code 65)
- Thermo switch in the switch status
- When does the rise start: at standstill, planing, full throttle?
Evaluation
If the values rise in step with load, cooling water is missing and intake grate, pump and hoses are where you look. Cavitation of the pump or sand in the inlet are often named in forums. If only one value jumps, its sensor or cable is to blame. Without measurement you easily replace the wrong sensor; with the app you see it before ordering a part. On real overheating, shut off and let it cool.
