Yamaha VX: Warning Tone and Limp Mode, What Does the Control Unit Report?

The VX beeps and power drops. That does not yet say what is going on. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC reads the reason from the control unit and shows you the live values for it.

What you see in the app

  • Active faults in the fault memory
  • Engine temperature (15) and exhaust manifold water temperature (65)
  • Oil pressure switch and thermo switch in the switch status
  • Battery voltage over time

One tone, several causes

On some Yamaha models overtemperature and low oil pressure share the same warning tone, which is why the switch status is so valuable. If the oil pressure switch shows a shortage, you shut off and check the oil level. If the temperature shows real overheating, you look in the cooling water path. If everything shows normal values, a sensor or contact problem is more likely. Do not simply ride on with a warning tone.
