The 900 ACE powers a long list of Ski-Doo and Lynx sleds, from the Renegade and Grand Touring to the Expedition and Skandic. If you are searching for Ski-Doo 900 ACE tuning, you usually want to know two things: does it work on my model and year, and what do I have to do? With the M-JET Flasher for Ski-Doo and Lynx, the ECU flash runs through the diagnostic port and is controlled by an app on your phone. No laptop, no shop visit, and you can go back to stock anytime. Below you will find the covered models and years with the 900 ACE, the ECU unlock rules and a straight answer on what the tune actually does.
What a 900 ACE tune does
A software tune changes the calibration in the engine control unit. On the snow you feel it as more power, sharper throttle response and a livelier feel overall. Pulling out of tight trail corners, or riding with gear and a passenger, the engine feels more awake.
We deliberately do not quote numbers for horsepower gains or top speed. How much of a difference you notice depends on the model, the stage and your setup. Depending on the model, Stage 1 to 4 are available. The key point: everything stays controlled and reversible. You can flash back to the stock software whenever you want.
How the ECU flash works with the app
The process is the same on every covered 900 ACE sled:
- Plug the flasher into the sled's diagnostic port.
- Open the app on your iPhone or Android phone and connect.
- Pick a stage offered for your model.
- Flash.
- Unplug the flasher and ride.
To go back to stock later, you take the same route and load the original software again. Our post on Ski-Doo ECU flashing by app walks through the whole process in detail.
Ski-Doo models with the 900 ACE
The table lists every Ski-Doo model where the 900 ACE is covered for tuning. The Renegade, Grand Touring and Expedition show up twice because the two generations differ on the ECU unlock.
| Model | Model years with 900 ACE | ECU unlock required |
|---|---|---|
| Ski-Doo MXZ | 2017-2018 | no |
| Ski-Doo Renegade | 2017-2020 | no |
| Ski-Doo Renegade | 2021-2026 | yes |
| Ski-Doo Grand Touring | 2017-2020 | no |
| Ski-Doo Grand Touring | 2021-2026 | yes |
| Ski-Doo Expedition | 2017-2020 | no |
| Ski-Doo Expedition | 2021-2026 | yes |
| Ski-Doo Skandic | 2017-2023 | no |
| Ski-Doo Skandic | 2024-2026 | yes |
On the MXZ, the 900 ACE is covered for 2017 and 2018. The Skandic is listed with the 900 ACE every year from 2017 through 2026, but from 2024 on it needs the unlock.
Lynx models with the 900 ACE
Lynx uses the same engine, so the tune works the same way. These models and years are covered:
| Model | Model years with 900 ACE | ECU unlock required |
|---|---|---|
| Lynx Xtrim | 2018-2021 | no |
| Lynx 49 Ranger | 2018-2022 | no |
| Lynx 49 Ranger | 2023-2024 | yes |
| Lynx 59 Ranger | 2021-2024 | no |
| Lynx 59 Ranger | 2025-2026 | yes |
| Lynx 69 Ranger | 2018-2022 | no |
| Lynx 69 Ranger | 2023-2026 | yes |
| Lynx Adventure | 2021-2022 | no |
| Lynx Adventure | 2023-2026 | yes |
| Lynx Commander | 2018-2022 | no |
| Lynx Commander | 2023-2026 | yes |
Pay close attention to the years. On the older Lynx Adventure generation, the 900 ACE is only listed for 2021 and 2022. On the newer 49 Ranger generation, it is only listed for 2023 and 2024. In the other listed years of those two generations, only the 600 ACE is listed.
ECU unlock: when you need it
On the newer generations, the ECU needs a one-time unlock before you can flash it. For the 900 ACE, our model list says:
- Ski-Doo Renegade, Grand Touring and Expedition: 2017 to 2020 without unlock, 2021 and newer with unlock.
- Ski-Doo Skandic: 2017 to 2023 without unlock, 2024 and newer with unlock.
- Ski-Doo MXZ and Lynx Xtrim: no unlock.
- Lynx 49 Ranger, 69 Ranger, Adventure and Commander: older generation without unlock, 2023 and newer with unlock.
- Lynx 59 Ranger: 2021 to 2024 without unlock, 2025 and newer with unlock.
The configurator shows the unlock options as soon as you select your model. For a full list of Ski-Doo and Lynx models with their unlock status, see our post on the Ski-Doo and Lynx ECU unlock.
Don't mix up 900 ACE, Turbo, Turbo R and 850 E-TEC
This post covers the non-turbo 900 ACE. The 900 ACE Turbo and 900 ACE Turbo R have partly different model years, and the Turbo R always needs the unlock. The details are in our post on Ski-Doo 900 ACE Turbo and Turbo R tuning.
A straight answer to a question we get a lot: the M-JET Flasher supports four-stroke engines only, meaning the 600 ACE, 900 ACE, 900 ACE Turbo and 900 ACE Turbo R, plus the 1200 4-TEC on certain older models. Two-strokes like the 600R E-TEC and the 850 E-TEC, including the 850 Turbo, are not supported. If you are shopping for a Ski-Doo 850 tune, this is not the right tool.
Lite or Pro, and more than one sled
The flasher comes in two versions. Lite is for software tuning only. Pro adds diagnostics, live data and codings. If you ride more than one sled, you do not need a second dongle: you add more vehicles with additional licenses. All model pages are linked from the Ski-Doo and Lynx tuning model overview, and the flasher itself is here: M-JET Flasher for Ski-Doo and Lynx.
Frequently asked questions
Can I go back to stock after a 900 ACE tune?
Yes. The tune is reversible at any time. Plug the flasher back in and load the stock software through the app.
Do I need a laptop or a dealer?
No. The ECU flash runs through the diagnostic port and the app on iOS or Android. Newer models need a one-time ECU unlock first, and the configurator shows the options for it.
How much power does the tune add?
We do not quote fixed numbers. You get more power, sharper throttle response and a livelier feel. How noticeable that is depends on the model and the stage.
Does it work on the Ski-Doo 850 E-TEC?
No. The 850 E-TEC is a two-stroke and is not supported, including the 850 Turbo. Only the four-stroke engines are covered.
