The 900 ACE Turbo and 900 ACE Turbo R power a lot of newer Ski-Doo and Lynx sleds, from the Renegade to the Lynx Brutal. If you are searching for a Ski-Doo Turbo R tune or 900 ACE Turbo tuning, one question matters more than the stage: what model year is your sled, and does its ECU need an unlock? With the M-JET Flasher for Ski-Doo and Lynx, you flash the ECU through the diagnostic port and control everything from an app, with no laptop and no shop visit. Here is the model overview for the Turbo and Turbo R, the unlock rules and the key things not to mix up.
What a 900 ACE Turbo and Turbo R tune does
The software tune changes the calibration in the engine control unit. You get more power, sharper throttle response and a livelier feel. Depending on the model, Stage 1 to 4 are available. We do not quote numbers for horsepower gains or top speed, because the result depends on the model, the stage and your setup, and we would rather not promise something you cannot verify on your own sled.
The tune stays controlled and reversible. You can go back to the stock software anytime.
How the flash works with the app
- Plug the flasher into the diagnostic port.
- Open the app on iOS or Android and connect.
- Pick a stage offered for your model.
- Flash.
- Unplug the flasher and ride.
On models that require it, a one-time ECU unlock comes before the first flash. The configurator shows the options for it as soon as you select your model.
Ski-Doo turbo models and years
The table lists every Ski-Doo model where the 900 ACE Turbo or 900 ACE Turbo R is covered for tuning. Not listed means we do not carry that engine for that generation.
| Model | 900 ACE Turbo | 900 ACE Turbo R | ECU unlock required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ski-Doo Renegade | 2019-2020 | not listed | no |
| Ski-Doo Renegade | 2021-2026 | 2024-2026 | yes |
| Ski-Doo Grand Touring | 2019-2020 | not listed | no |
| Ski-Doo Grand Touring | 2021-2026 | 2024-2026 | yes |
| Ski-Doo Expedition | 2019-2020 | not listed | no |
| Ski-Doo Expedition | 2021-2026 | 2024-2026 | yes |
| Ski-Doo Skandic | 2024 | not listed | yes |
| Ski-Doo Mach Z | 2022 | not listed | yes |
Two special cases: we list the Ski-Doo Mach Z with the 900 ACE Turbo for model year 2022, with unlock. On the Skandic, the 900 ACE Turbo is only listed for 2024, also with unlock.
Lynx turbo models and years
The Lynx list is longer because more Lynx models come with a turbo:
| Model | 900 ACE Turbo | 900 ACE Turbo R | ECU unlock required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lynx 49 Ranger | 2023-2024 | not listed | yes |
| Lynx 69 Ranger | 2021-2022 | not listed | no |
| Lynx 69 Ranger | 2023-2026 | 2024-2026 | yes |
| Lynx Adventure | 2023-2025 | not listed | yes |
| Lynx Commander | 2020-2022 | not listed | no |
| Lynx Commander | 2023-2026 | 2024-2026 | yes |
| Lynx Xterrain | 2020 | not listed | no |
| Lynx Xterrain | 2021-2023, 2026 | 2024-2026 | yes |
| Lynx Brutal | not listed | 2025-2026 | yes |
The Lynx Xterrain deserves a second look: on the newer generation we list the 900 ACE Turbo for 2021 to 2023 and for 2026, and the Turbo R for 2024 to 2026. The Lynx Brutal is listed with the Turbo R only, for 2025 and 2026.
ECU unlock on the turbo: the rule
The most important rule first: every 900 ACE Turbo R in our list needs the one-time ECU unlock. We list the Turbo R from model year 2024, and on the Brutal from 2025.
On the 900 ACE Turbo without the R, it depends on the generation:
- No unlock: Ski-Doo Renegade, Grand Touring and Expedition 2019 to 2020, Lynx 69 Ranger 2021 to 2022, Lynx Commander 2020 to 2022 and Lynx Xterrain 2020.
- Unlock required: Ski-Doo Renegade, Grand Touring and Expedition 2021 to 2026, Skandic 2024 and Mach Z 2022. On the Lynx side, the 49 Ranger 2023 to 2024, the 69 Ranger and Commander 2023 to 2026, the Adventure 2023 to 2025 and the Xterrain 2021 to 2023 plus 2026.
The configurator shows the unlock options for your model. A complete table with every model is in our post on the Ski-Doo and Lynx ECU unlock.
850 E-TEC Turbo: not supported
A lot of riders searching for Ski-Doo turbo tuning are on an 850 Turbo. Here is the honest answer: the M-JET Flasher supports four-stroke engines only, meaning the 600 ACE, 900 ACE, 900 ACE Turbo and 900 ACE Turbo R, plus the 1200 4-TEC on certain older models. Two-strokes like the 850 E-TEC, including the 850 Turbo, and the 600R E-TEC are not covered.
Boost faults belong in diagnostics
If your turbo sled throws a boost pressure fault or drops into limp mode, that is a job for troubleshooting, not for the flasher. Read the fault memory with M-JET DIAGNOSTIC (BRP). Which codes are typical on the turbo and how to work through them is covered in our post on Ski-Doo 900 ACE Turbo diagnostics.
Lite or Pro, and more sleds
The Lite version of the flasher is for software tuning. The Pro version adds diagnostics, live data and codings. One dongle can tune several vehicles, and you add more sleds with additional licenses. All model pages are linked from the Ski-Doo and Lynx tuning model overview.
