Yamaha FZR and FZS: Knock Sensor Message and Intake Air Temperature
On FZR and FZS, knock tendency and intake air temperature are closely linked. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC lets you watch both together.
What you watch
- Intake air temperature (code 23) over time under load
- Ignition timing: is it retarded?
- Knock sensor (code 17) in the fault memory
- Fuel: remember what was last filled
Typical constellation
Hot air, poor fuel or high engine temperature promote knock. The control unit reacts with later ignition and less power. In the recording you see the connection: temperature rises, ignition timing falls, power fades. If the message occurs with cold air and calm riding, however, a sensor or wire problem is more likely.
