Yamaha GP1300R: Overheat Warning and Exhaust Manifold Temperature

Besides engine temperature, the GP1300R also monitors the exhaust manifold. A warning can therefore come from several places. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows you which value is really conspicuous.

What you check

  • Code 21: engine temperature sensor
  • Code 83: exhaust manifold temperature sensor
  • Code 101: exhaust manifold water temperature
  • Live values compared: do both temperatures rise evenly?

Even or erratic?

If engine and exhaust manifold temperature rise plausibly with load, the heat is real and you look in the cooling water path. If only one of the values jumps, the associated sensor or its wire is suspect. That protects you from replacing the wrong part. On real overheating do not ride on; shut the engine off.
