Yamaha JetBlaster: Check SCU and RPS Faults
On JetBlaster variants with RiDE (according to Yamaha PRO and DLX) the SCU monitors shifting and the RPS sensor supplies position signals. If faults occur, M-JET DIAGNOSTIC reads the codes and shows the live values.
What you check
- SCU and RPS codes in the fault memory
- Shift angle and RPS signals when shifting
- Voltage, ground and connectors
- After SCU replacement: initial learning
Shared cause first
Several SCU and RPS messages at once often have a shared cause: voltage, ground or a connector. Check these first. If the values change cleanly in the app, the electronics work and the cause lies more in the mechanism. Only work on the shifting when the craft is secure and the pump cannot spin freely. Known from forums: messages about the reverse gate (such as code 159) repeatedly had mundane causes, for example a tie-down strap stretched across the stern eyes, a slightly bent rod, the connector at the main RiDE harness, or relay and fuse. Check this by hand with the engine off, then clear the memory and read it again.
