Yamaha MR-1 Engine Diagnostics (4 Cylinder, 1052 cc)
The MR-1 is the 1.05 to 1.1-litre four-cylinder of the early Yamaha four-strokes. It sits in the VX 1100 and in the early FX models. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC reads the control units of these vehicles.
What matters on MR-1 engines
- Four cylinders with four injectors for individual testing
- On the early FX1000, cylinders 1 and 4 and 2 and 3 each share one ignition coil
- Older control units with a manageable fault list, newer ones with electronic throttle valve
- Live data on engine speed, temperatures, air pressure and battery
Old, but easy to check
Even on engines of this generation, diagnostics help you save time. Check battery, ground points and connectors when the memory reports a sensor, and test the ignition coils individually. After winter, a complete check with fault memory, live data and component test is a good routine. That way you catch problems before the season starts.
