Yamaha VX1100: Throttle Valve Faults (ETV, TPS, APS)
The VX1100 has no throttle cable any more: accelerator sensor (APS) and throttle sensor (TPS) work together with the ETV motor. With M-JET DIAGNOSTIC you see which part of the system stands out.
What you check
- Codes 124 to 128 concern the TPS, 131 to 135 the APS, the 112 to 145 range the ETV
- Live data: throttle valve angle, TPS1 and TPS2, APS1 and APS2
- Power supply and ETV relay in the switch status
- After cleaning or replacement: teach idle and throttle valve
Why two signals?
TPS and APS each deliver two voltage signals that must match. If one deviates, the control unit detects the fault and protects the engine. That helps your diagnosis, because you see which signal falls out of line. A value that jerks when you give gas speaks for a contact fault. The throttle valve is safety-relevant; have unclear findings checked by a specialist workshop.
