Yamaha VXR: RPM Stuck at 5000, Speed Stays Around 50 km/h
Known from forums: a VXR (2013) stays at about 5000 rpm and around 50 km/h and will not accelerate further. That is typical of a protection mode. M-JET DIAGNOSTIC shows you the trigger.
How to proceed
- Read the fault memory: throttle valve (ETV, TPS, APS), temperature, knock sensor
- Watch throttle valve angle against accelerator position
- Compare engine temperature (code 15) and exhaust manifold water temperature (code 65)
- Test ride with data logger until the problem occurs
Keep an eye on the throttle valve
If the valve does not open as far as the accelerator demands, the control unit limits power. You see that immediately in the live value. If there is no entry and the valve follows the accelerator, the bottleneck is more likely intake pressure, cooling or pump. The test ride shows which value stands out before the drop. First rule out that no-wake or a learner mode is active, because both limit engine speed and look like a defect. You can see the switch status in the live data.
